Sicily was full of Lobono's (palermo) and in U.S. (new Orleans). My Sicilian LoBona's became Bona over time in U.S.

Re: Why are Southern Italians darker than Northern Italians?

Since it has been proven by DNA that everyone decended from a particular tribe Africa but traveled to other places - humans end up taking on the appearance, size, skin color, etc from the environment they live in for thousands of years. Can Italian regions or cities be located by a Surname??

I had heard my Italian ancestors came from Palermo but not sure. The names are henrique (Henry) Faccini & Camilla Romeo. Henry was a fisherman who immigrated to California. I had heard many fishermen came from Isola del Femmine. Any info on how to connect surnames to towns would be much appreciated.

Wow, thanks for the website! I had searched years ago & not as much info was online so pretty much called a halt to my search. I either hadn't found this site or not sure why I didn't find this info. Anyway I found more info on Frank Buzzotto & Nellie there.

Frank born 1858, died 1/27/1930

Faccini - Bono - Buzzoto - Romeo surnames

Hi everyone.

My paternal great grandfather was Henry Faccini . His first child was born around 1870 but I don't have Henry's age.
