Find Michael Chudkosky Parents
I have attached a couple of naturalization files for Michael Chudkosky for details that might help find his parents. He married Michelina Marszycka on February 9, 1919 in Manhattan. They had 3 sons. She died of cancer and he put his 3 sons in an orphanage and went back to Austria (I think - could be ...

Re: Potential Parents on Ancestry.com
It is my understanding that even for private trees, Ancestry.com allows you to see deceased people through hints, especially Family Tree hints. I see that all the time on family tree hint reviews. names of deceased relatives are shown, but living people are designated as private with no name shown ...

Potential Parents on Ancestry.com
Quite often recently, When looking at a particular individual who has no parents on my family tree, Ancestry.com puts in "Potential" parent names and sometimes dates of birth and death in the empty spaces that I have on my tree for that person's parents. Also, Ancestry.com sometimes does the same ...

Why Italian Single Women Emigrated to America
The most common reason given for Italians emigrating to America was to find a better life or in some cases for men, to avoid the Italian Army draft. In Italy, it was common for families to set up marriages for their children. Therefore, in the case of single adult Italian women emigrating to America ...

Honorable Discharge after only one day of service
Ralph Puma was honorably discharged from the US Army in 1917 during World War 1 just one day after he was inducted into the Army (see attachment). I see no reason given for the discharge. Does anyone know why?

Re: Retiring in Italy from US
Italy income taxes are high and so is their "hidden" national sales tax (called a Value Added Tax or VAT which most European nations have but is hidden from appearing on your sales receipts). I tried to include a link explaining all of that, but this website won't allow it. Just go to the internet ...

Re: Side Notes Translation on Birth document
Thank you. I am not surprised that she married her first husband's brother as I've seen that with others. However, I am surprised that her first husband died in Germany 33 years earlier in 1944 (Worle War 2). The German death record does note that he was born in Polizzi Gernerosa which is true. You ...

Verifying Family History
A deceased aunt told me years ago that her father Evangelista Lorusso, was a 17 year old barber in the Italian army working in a medical camp in 1918 during World War 1. While cutting another soldier's hair, that soldier told him that a handsome soldier was wounded in the face and now did not want ...
