Pietro Barbella came to the U.S. around 1885 from Sassano. I would love to hear information about this surname in the Salerno region.

Re: Barbella in Sassano
What sort of information?
The basic stats on Sassano can be found at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sassano and on Salerno at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Province_of_Salerno. Sassano's website is at http://sassano.asmenet.it/index.php?action=index&p=1.
There are currently 11 Barbella's living in Sassano according to the Italian telephone directory. In a comune of around 5,000 population, there is a good chance that some of these people are your relatives. You may want to send off a generic letter and see what comes back. The second post in this thread has some helpful info on this subject.
