Help finding Ship Manifest
Re: Help finding Ship Manifest

Thanks - I have already gone though everything I think possible on this site that is free search. That is how I found my maternal great grandfather and mothers marriage certificate in Manhattan in 1892!
The sites that have proved most useful are ancestry.com, the LDS site, the Ellis Island site and www.jewishgen.org.

Re: Help finding Ship Manifest
Thanks - now that I have a little more definitive info about her birth year and children, this first entry from the 1900 US Census is her and family. The ship manifests below don't quite work out. Colagera Curreri-Guardino was born 2 DEC 1864.
Thanks again - great work

From the marriage record that member VJ posted looks ike the correct lastname of Caterina's mother was Curreri, pretty common lastname in Sciacca...
I noticed that one of the "boarder" in the 1900 is Ignazio Curreri, possible he was Caterina's brother?
Maybe this 1913 arrival for a Calogera Curreri (maiden name) worth a look![]()

Re: Help finding Ship Manifest
.Colagera Curreri-Guardino was born 2 DEC 1864
But, if Calogera was Caterina's mother and Caterina was born on 1873, it's impossible that Calogera was 9 years old at the time of Caterina's birth...
Or I'm missing something??
In the case you don't know it, you can check this very helpful site to find several reference to Guardino's:

Yes, I agree, I saw that also. All I can say is that the facts are still emerging. LOL, it sure makes it interesting until everything ties out!

Re: Help finding Ship Manifest
we know that Caterina's parents were Pietro Guardino and Calogera Curreri....
If Caterina had a brother named Stephen then,
this is an interesting document:
U.S. Passport Applications, 1795-1925
about Stephen Guardino
Name: Stephen Guardino
Birth Date: 24 Nov 1878
Birth Place: Sciacca, Sicily, Italy
Gender: Male
Residence: Brooklyn, New York
Passport Issue Date: 9 Sep 1913
Spouse Name: Louise Guardino
Passport Includes a Photo: N

image, from Ancestry.com:
http://www.postimage.org/image.php?v=Ts1g1EMJ
persons on this passport were Stephen, his wife Louisa, his child Peter, Nicholas, Lilly, his mother Calogera Guardino born in Sciacca on February 15, 1849 (then Calogera's name was crossed out)
and other persons...
I found another passport for this man (issued on 1921) were he stated his father's name was Pietro (deceaded at that time)....
I believe these are more than coincidences
what do you think about this?
Laura
Re: Help finding Ship Manifest
Wow! Yes Caterina had a brother Stephen, and sisters Marietta, Calogera and Giuseppina. I never knew Stephens birth date but 1878 would fit. This gives us Calogera's birth date as 1849 and while that would fit better with Caterina's, it messes up my supposed knowledge of Colageras mother (Caterina Morino) birth date of 1838!
You mention another document you found - can you send it along.
Thank you very much for researching for me - greatly appreciated!
