Is Berni or Barni typically a last name or can it be used as first name as well?

Well, I think it says that the search for a birth certificate yielded no result.

Look back at my earlier post in this thread on June 18 at 5:45PM. It tells how and where to request military records.

The surname could also be BURNI (BOORNEE phonetic) and persons with this spelling all appear to reside in the Lombardia region in 13 comune (towns). There is a 14th in Trieste. Go to www.gens.labo.net/en/cognomi and put in BURNI in upper left and click red arrow for map location of surname. =Peter=
