Hi!
I sent a note to the owner of the "Miciotto Family Tree" on ancestry, asking them to join us here
They appear to be a Miciotto distant cousin
There isn't any more information on their family pages on the Michel's than you already have
(note: their email address isn't shown, it only allows contact thru ancestry. com)

suanj wrote:...I cannot find the 1880 census abt your Rosario .. now, because by obits and WWI draft registration cards seeming that all Rosario children was born in Louisiana, and if so Rosario and Maria was resident in Louisiana almost from 1871/2 (first daughter Mary born abt 1872), but because I cannot find the birth records .. I cannot understand why the family appearing not in 1880 census....
The Miciottos* coming from Cefalù town and I suspect that also your ancestors coming from this town or surrounding area... suanj...
Hi suanj :D !
I looked for both 1880 and 1870 (another daughter may have been born 1868-9 in LA) I couldn't find them anywhere in LA. I suppose they could have come thru Texas. It's also possible that their manifest is really damaged, unreadable, or not transcribed yet. I think finding Rosario's naturalization paperwork may be a good next step?

Hi Valarie,
it is a puzzle for me!
I cannot find the arrival, I cannot find the 1870/80 censuses; I cannot find the birth records of children...
I made a true deep search and nothing came up...

I found only :
- Juan Michel italian with wife Rose( nee Giardina most probably) and children Joe in 1880 census of new Orleans;
in same house: Carmelo Cerniglia ( head) and family;
Cerniglia sister in law: Concetta Giardina;
others: Salvatore Michel and wife Concetta and Giuseppe son..
all italians; the men all fruit vendors...

-Mike Mitchel
Birth: abt 1844 - Italy
Residence: 1880 - New Orleans, Orleans, Louisiana

- C. Michael 45 Italy
Theresa Michael 40 Italy
Josephine Michael 12 Italy
Rosa Michael 7 Louisiana
Mary Michael 8 "

in 1870:
-Jiagino Michele ( Biagino=Biagio Michele)
Birth: abt 1840 - Italy

Residence: 1870 - New Orleans Ward 5, Orleans, Louisiana, United States
wife Louisa

I cannot find more... I hope you will have good luck with naturalization record...

hugs,
suanj

Is it possible that Rosario Michel had a son named Edward? I'm from New Orleans and my great grandfather was edward michel who was born in 1874 and married to annie michel. My fathers middle name is rosario, but I'm not able to find census records linking Rosario and my great grandfater Edward.

thanks!
