Nella Agnello
Nella Agnello
I need help finding my g-grandmothers death certificate, I have checked all variations of spellings of last name but have run out of ideas. You all were great helping find my g-grandfather Antonino Agnello, spelled AQUELLO, but I still can't find Nella. She was born in 1859 in Italy and died July 9, 1955 in Chicago, Cook Co. Ill. She is buried at St. Joseph Cemetery with her son Sam. I have tried contacting Cook Co. but are very slow to respond. I have also hired an expert on ancestry.com, but they gave me my money back because they couldn't find anything.
I am getting desperate, please help. Nina

Re: Nella Agnello
The cemetery should have records of when she was interred.

Re: Nella Agnello
Yes I have contacted the cemetery and found her grave, but I am looking for a death certificate to confirm her mothers and fathers name. I have used every variation of Agnello that I can think of but still cannot locate it. Any suggestions are welcome.
Re: Nella Agnello
Why can't you get a genealogical copy of her death certificate from Cook County? What's wrong with getting one from the state? What about finding Sam's birth record, maybe it contains more information about his mother? What was her real name, surely 'Nella' was a nickname?
I think what Italysearcher was suggesting was that the cemetery may have more than the location of the grave. Maybe the name of a funeral home, leading to the name of a city that she may have died in, etc.?
What about finding an obituary in old newspapers? Did she have a SS number?

Re: Nella Agnello
I contacted the cemetery and they told me that they don't have death records. I also have a copy of Sam, her son's death certificate and doesn't have mothers maiden name. I know where she lived,(Cook Co. Ill.), when she died ( 9 July 1955)and where's she's buried, (St. Joseph), but I can't get the death certificate. I believe they have spelled her last name wrong, just like they did her husband, AQUELLO, instead of AGNELLO, but I have tried that spelling. I guess I will keep trying different spellings. One note from a great aunt: she lived her last days at Villa Scalabrini, somewhere in Chicago.
Re: Nella Agnello
I also have her obituary from the Chicago Tribune, July 10, 1955

Re: Nella Agnello
I have not been able to find a birth record for Sam. He was born in 1899 and I don't know if they had one back then. I will start looking, thanks for the idea. Nina
