Help getting WWI record for grandfather

My husband's grandfather fought in WWI for Italy. His name was Domenico Pignotti and I believe he was born around 1895. They are from Ascoli Piceno in Marche. I can't seem to locate anything for this province online. Any ideas on how to get the information?

There are a limited number of records available at familysearch, but they are accessible only at family history libraries. The records are fairly well indexed, so you shouldn't need to search to long to see if there is anything useful to you there.
