Looking family named Faust or Pisasale

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

Looking family named Faust or Pisasale

Post by domafaust »

Hello, I a new to the forum but not new to Genealogy research. I have been researching my fathers relatives for some time. The Pisasale family fromFerla, Siracusa Sicily. And Faust or maybe Fausto from Reggio. The Faust family I have more of an immediate interest I am looking for my paternal GGfather Dominick Faust bn. 1875 immigrated 1903 moved to Portage, PA was a coalminer. He married Phoebe Bradley who gave him 4 sons before she passed. But I cannot find anything about where he came from. it is believed his parents were Fortunto and Fortunta Faust. My ggmother who took over raising the boys and was my ggfather second wife Maria Muni was from the same place where he grew up in Italy. And help or pointing me new direction would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Dom Faust

Welcome! :-D

I took a look at your family tree on Ancestry and noticed you have Domenico's birth place as Reggio Calabria.
Do you have any source for this?

EDIT TO ADD***

Using Domenico's birthdate from his WWI REgistration Card - 15 September 1875

It appears that Domenico's place of birth was, indeed, Reggio Calabria :-D

Handwriting is difficult...

Here is his birth act - #139 in the Parte II Supplemental
Dated 15 September 1875 in Reggio Calabria
Appearing before the official was Maria Sante, 29, Receiver of the Abandoned, residing in this city, to present a male child who appeared to be about 8 days old.(?)
It looks like he had a tag/note on which was written the name Domenico Toscano, baptized (on 6 September?), and on 15 September at 6:20 AM she found him on the wheel of the abandoned on Strada Ospedale,.
The official gave the child the name DOMENICO and the surname FASTO.

Right side.

Correction to the above...
Maria Fante (not Sante).

Can you provide some details of the Pisasale ancestor you wish to search?
Approx date of birth, immigration, etc.?

There are limited records for Ferla, Siracusa, available at Family Search
https://familysearch.org/search/image/i ... %3D2110810

I also found a Maria Muni in the Reggio Calabria birth index.
It lists a Maria Muni [daughter of Demetrio], born in 1880, record #1286.
Unfortunately, the records in the higher numbers for 1880 (from June to December) appear to be missing...

Here is the index - Maria Muni is about half way down on the far left.

Hello,
My grandmother, Beatrice Pearl Bradley Fyock, was Phoebe Bradley's younger sister. We were not aware my grandmother had an older sister until we started looking into her ancestory. We are interested in finding out more information on Phoebe's husband Dominic and their four sons. Any information is greatly appreciated.
