Churches in Gesualdo

[mdecicco]

GENEALOGY QUESTION:

I am seeking help compiling a complete list of all the Catholic churches in Gesualdo, Italy, where birth records would be kept.

My grandfather James Vincenzo DeCicco(1890-1972) came to America from Gesualdo. I will be in the area in late May and would love to find his birth certificate.

Would it be found at the town's office building and someone who speaks English could help me there?

Where do I start seeking other DeCiccos in Gesualdo?

I'd appreciate any advice on how to start this search.

Thank you.

Hi Michael,

One of the best things that you can do is to inform the comune that you are coming to Gesualdo. They hold the birth records for the period of your grandfather's birth. So they should be able to find it in anticipation of your arrival. Also, if you let the Mayor know that you are coming he/she should be able to offer you some insight about your family and their history and may even offer you a personal tour of the town if they are not too busy. You may need to find a translator to help you, or they may be able to find someone local who speaks a little bit of English.

Good luck and have a great time!
