Here is a son Gaetano born in 1837...carubia wrote: 24 May 2017, 09:45 Salvatore also had a brother Gaetano, born in 1847. Unfortunately the Casteltermini marriage records between 1866 and 1878 appear not to be online, during which range he probably married Elisabetta Amoroso. I checked 1879 and 1880 but their marriage was not in there.

Tessa,
I'm not sure what you were trying to say about Salvatore's son Gaetano.
As I pointed out, he had one born in 1847. Here is the record:
Name: Gaetano Termini
Gender: Male
Christening Date: 24 Sep 1847
Christening Place: Casteltermini, Agrigento, Italy
Birth Date: 24 Sep 1847
Birthplace: Casteltermini, Agrigento, Italy
Death Date:
Name Note:
Race:
Father's Name: Salvatore Termini
Father's Birthplace:
Father's Age: 36 y
Mother's Name: Antonina Sciarrotta
Mother's Birthplace:
Mother's Age: 32 Y
Indexing Project (Batch) Number: C74030-5
System Origin: Italy-EASy
GS Film number: 1467076
Reference ID: yr 1847 rn 184
Citing this Record:
"Italy Births and Baptisms, 1806-1900," database, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XVTY-3YG : 8 December 2014), Salvatore Termini in entry for Gaetano Termini, 24 Sep 1847; citing Casteltermini, Agrigento, Italy, reference yr 1847 rn 184; FHL microfilm 1,467,076.
I didn't bother mentioning the one born in 1837 because he died in 1838 and we're interested in a Gaetano Termini who married Elisabetta Amoroso.
It's pretty obvious that the one who died in 1838 is the same one who was born in 1837 and not a separate Gaetano. The date of death was in Jan 1838, so if he was born in Feb 1837 then he would've been less than 1 year old and thus show up as age 0 in the FamilySearch index. But the year of birth that FamilySearch displays for a death record is just calculated by subtracting the age from the year of death.
I made that point about Vincenzo, too, namely, that since Salvatore had a son Vincenzo who was born and died in 1845, he probably (but not necessarily) didn't have a son with birth name Vincenzo who married before 1856.

Re: Casteltermini, Sicily - Any records online?
Thanks for all the help! I have been slacking the past few weeks. Tessa made a mistake in saying a second Gaetano was born in 1838. It was not a birth citation; but rather the death of the Gaetano born in 1837, which you can glean from her last response above. I have made my conjecture: I have entered in that Vincenzo Termini who married Maria Carmella Ballone MAY HAVE BEEN born Salvatore Termini, the son of Salvatore and Antonina (Sciarratta) Termini, and obviously the one who married, presumably the same woman (Maria Carmela Ballone), on 15 August 1855 in Casteltermini. He did appear, however, to be known as Vincenzo in later records; unless of course my conjecture is wrong!

What about finding a marriage for Rosina Termini (born about 1876) to Michele Lo Re?
