Unknown Father

Post by robann99 »

I have just got the results of a DNA test and discovered that my father was Italian possibly from Sicily. There were always rumours whilst I was growing up that I never believed. He was apparently a POW in Bedfordshire UK and I was born in 1946.
Anyone who could throw further light on the subject is long gone now but I stumbled upon this site and wonder if anyone reading this knows of an ex POW held in Bedfordshire who may know he fathered a child in 1946. My mother's name was Violet.

Hi there!

Do you know your father's name? If you've got a name you've got a lot here in Italy. Most Italian names are really specific to certain areas. And you can search a surname quite easily.

The red cross have an archive of prisoners of war for WWI but I don't think anything for WWII. I would be interested if you find a register of POW for WWII. Please let me know if you do.

You should be able to find something at the bedfordshire archives. If it's not too far for you to get to.

Good luck with your search!

Hello, I have been looking for my father's son that was born while he was a POW in England. Do you know your father's mother's name at all. All I know about my dad is that he was a POW, met a woman where he worked on a farm/estate. She apparently already had a husband who was at war. I have a picture of the baby only and it may have been in an area called Well Pond Green in England.
