No Ius Soli in Italy

Post by jennabet »

There will be no Ius Soli (birth on the soil) citizenship in Italy. The prime minister shelved the bill until autumn because he doesn't have the votes. However, this bill, if presented again will never pass. The majority is not in favor of birth on the soil citizenship.

Who is actually supporting this bill? Also was it meant to supplement jure sanguinis or ultimately replace it?

The Liberal Left and the same party responsible for bringing hundreds of thousands of Sub-Saharans to Italy (85,000 since January, not to mention hundreds of thousands in 2014, 2015, 2016) is supporting it.
