Looking for my ancestor Matteo Giordanino

Post by brunnosf »

Hello everyone!

I had been looking for the city of birth of my great grandfather Matteo Giordanino, born near 1848-1849 in italy.
He came to Argentina with wife and children in the ship called "Nilo", arriving 28 de octubre de 1887 (38 years old), was already married with Teresa Crosetti de Giordanino (37 years old). ..His children (Domenico 17 years old and Lucia Maria 5 years old)
According to Death Certificate (from Santa Fe Argentina), his parents were Antonio Giordanino and María Mainero, and supposedly he was born in San Marttimano, italy (this city does not exist?!).
Accordind to data census of 1895 in Argentina, he was married between 1880-1881, in italy.

Could you please send some advice or info, where to find these certificates from Italy, including may be passports (?) in Genova (city of departure in 1887).

Thanks,
Bruno Giordanino.

I couldn't find such a place.
San Martiniano is the patron saint of Pecco, Torino, Piedmont.
This might be a hint.

I wrote on the other thread you opened
gaspaol wrote: 04 Sep 2017, 14:10 The closest one should be Martiniana Po where there are some Giordanino. That is the surname of your great-grandfather right?
I had a quick look here:

but I couldn't find the people you are looking for.
There are also more Giordanino in the municipalities around that area and to the north-west of Torino.
