Which Rome Cemetery?

Post by steveb »

A friend of mine is looking for the burial place of a relation.
Luigi Frezzi died in hospital on 17/02/1937 in Rome.
I think there about 10 cemeteries in Rome. Looking at the "Cimiteri Capitolini" site there is a form to complete, but a lot of the informazione required this person would not have.
The "Find a Grave" site has no information.
Any help appreciated.

The main cemetery at that time was the Verano.
Two more big cemeteries ("Flaminio" and "Laurentino") did not exist yet in 1937.
The others you see listed in Cimiteri Capitolini are cimiteries of hamlets, villages or towns that are part of the Commune of Roma.
The only other cemetery present at that time in the city of Rome is the Non-Catholic cemetery, also known as the "English" Cemetery.
That's to say that with big probability he was buried in the Verano (unless he was taken somewhere else out of Roma)
