Divorce

Post by Danny »

When Grandma married in 1912 she listed her Father as dead. Have found info. on him stating he died in 1923
in Santo Stefano di Sesssanio. Same name / same father name / same mother surname/ and same spouse name
If he did pass away in 1923 why would they list him as dead on the marriage license. Im told that divorce was unheard of during this period My great grandfather was Stefano Tatone/ Missamina Rusciolelli Any thoughts

Tks Danny

Maybe she was under age in 1912 and would have needed his permission? Especially if she was in America and he was in Italy. DIvorce in Italy was not legal until 1962.
