I'm searching for the birth record of my 3rd Great-grandfather, Filippo Straniero. He was born about 1844 (give or take a year) in San Cataldo, Sicily. His wife was Maria Licata and known children were: Concetta, Salvatore, and Grazia. Looking to learn his birthdate and parents names.

Here is the marriage act of Filippo Straniero and Maria Licata in 1867.
#12 - dated 6 March 1867 in San Cataldo.
Groom: Filippo Straniero, unmarried, age 26 (making birth year about 1841), farmer born and residing in San Cataldo, son of unknown parents
Bride: Maria Licata unmarried, age 23, spinner, born and residing in San Cataldo, daughter of deceased (both) Diego [Licata]who was a farmer, and of Concetta Nalfo(?), spinner, both residing in San Cataldo in their lifetimes.

Here is the Publication of Banns of Marriage for Filippo and Maria in 1867.
In this record it mentions that the groom (and the bride) provided their birth acts, and ...

Filippo's birth is dated 16 April 1840

Marias birth is dated 14 May 1840.

Oh rats! Well, thank you!! On Maria Licata's death record, her mother's surname is listed as "Lanarfa"...does that sound more probable?

It looks like Nalfa or Nalfo... but perhaps it is Malfa - found in Sicily

I just posted the birth dates for each of them above. The dates were included in their request to publish the banns of marriage...
