Help with birth record - no parents?

Post by montclaire »

Hello, can someone please translate this birth record? #600 of 1908 for a Margherita Montemarcone. Montemarcone is a mountain/region, and not a surname that I have seen before. I have been trying to find a record for my g-grandmother who was an orphan, hoping this may be it. It looks like there are no parents listed? Thanks

Margherita Montemarcone was born on Dec 15 1908, in a house at address "Gradoni della Roccia nr 6". The mother is a woman who does not consent to be named, not married, not widow since less than ten months.
The baby was given to the declarant, Ester Giovannellli 27yo a midwife, to be grown.

Hi Montclaire,

This is very similar to the situation with my GG GF. His birth registration also has a woman that doesn't consent to be named (although it doesn't mention if she was married or widowed). How exciting that yours lists who was to raise her!

It seems this was more common than I'd have thought. What a fascinating history.
