Hello,
Hoping for some advice on how to locate a record or "proof" of a ancestor of mine. I'm looking for Domenico D'Amore and/or Giovanna D'Alorifio.
what I know and what I have...
Domenico was the alleged father of Carmine D'Amore (born 4-14-1825 in Ortucchio). The record says Domencio was not present during the signing of the birth record, however, he is from Cerchio.
The mother of Carmine is Giovanna D'Alorifio (born abt 1797).
When Carmine was married, he took the last name of his mother. All his children were D'Amores though. Odd!
I was able to track down some records on Antenati, but uncertain if the Domenico is the same. I see a handful of death records naming Domenico and Columba Continenza as the parents. I didn't come across any other Domenico record.
I'm trying to locate a birth or death record of Domenico and/or Giovanna. Trying to piece together this part of my tree.

Thank you, in advance!
Frank

The birth record (link below) indicates that Domenico d'Amore was the father "as asserted by the mother" -
So the father did not acknowledge this child.
It is difficult to identify the correct Domenico d'Amore as we do not have even an age for him in the birth act.
MAYBE there is an allegati for Carmine's marriage that contains additional documents.

NOTE: The mother's surname is Aloisio.

Thanks for the reply, Tessa.
I found this, but not sure if that contains anything additional?

Hi Frank!
Hope you are well! Even though my initial thoughts were that Domenico abandoned Carmine and Giovanna, I have since come across many instances where couples stayed together, but did not get married for whatever reason, or got married much later. I had a case recently where the couple were married 17 years after the birth of their first child and they had other children out of wedlock too. The authorities would not normally permit Giovanna to put Domenico's name on the birth certificate because they were not legally married, but this doesn't necessarily suggest that they weren't together and this may have been the case for Carmine's marriage too (he would have had to use his legal name, whether or not he saw Domenico as his father and had a relationship with him).
I think your best bet for moving forward with this research is to contact the priest in Cerchio and ask him to look at the baptismal records for any Domenico D'Amore born at a similar time to Giovanna (give or take 5 years I'd say). I find the priests generally very helpful and quick with their research.
Good luck Frank! Keep well!!

Possible found the record for Giovanna's death. Can anyone confirm that?
Father - Luca?
Mother - Concetta diBenedetto ?
Death - Oct 4, 1841?
I didnt see the individual record though after scrolling through each however.
