Help with great grandparents birth and marriage Cert Please

Post by Clovis »

I am glad to find this forum!

Can someone please help me obtain birth and the marriage certificate for my great grandparents. I am trying to obtain dual citizenship. Salvatore and Carmela Izzo were married in approx 1904 in Naples we believe. Salvatore was born 7/3/1878 in Bracigliano Salerno Italy and Carmela Izzo (maiden - Leone) was born in 1888 or 1883 in Italy.

Any information will be a big help.

Thank You

You will need to write to the Comune for these records. Do Salvatore first since you know where he was born. His birth record should indicate when and where his marriage took place.

Will the marriage certificate have the hometown of my great grandmother on it? So I can work backwords on her records.

Thank You!

The marriage record will provide the town of birth of both bride and groom. However, if the marriage took place in the town of the bride and is different than that of the groom, then you will need her death record to locate her town of birth /marriage.

Here is the birth act in 1878 (3 July) of Sabato Izzo in Bracigliano, Salerno.
#43
Father: Saverio Izzo, 31, laborer
Mother: Rosa Liguori, seamstress

Unfortunately, there is no annotation of marriage for Sabato (Salvatore as you know him)

You will need a certified copy of this birth act for dual citizenship, so you will need to write to the comune.

Did they annotate my GGM birth certificate with the marriage? Was it common to note marriages on female birth certificate in 1904?

Thank You

There is no annotation of marriage on Maria's birth act. When searching for a marriage, it was an estimation of an approximate year of marriage, then working through years before and after.

As Marty :-) stated, sometimes there was a notation and sometimes not. It also depended on the individual town, AND when these images were photographed by LDS (if the birth act was photographed before the marriage took place, there would be no annotation.)
