maandkel---Have you ever gotten a death certificate for Leonard D'anna. I know we are related to a D'Anna or Danna that was a principal or teacher at an Evergreen school in San Jose.
Thanks , MArlene

Re: Rinella, D'Anna, Rubino from Palermo (Trabia?)
I have no information on the DiMatteo lineage. Just that my great-great grandmother Salvatora Vallelunga was married to Bartolmeo diMatteo in Trabia. They had 6 daughters that I know of, all of those families are in the states, I don't even know if they had a son. Hope to find that out this year when I get to Trabia.
Trabia, Sicily: Rinella, Campagna, Rubino, DiMatteo, Vallelunga, Gattuccio, Canciamilla, Arena, Alario, Barone, Sunseri, Trapani, Turturice Bell, Lima, Romano, Spitaleri, Cancilla,Tardio, Novello Tomasello, Sunseri Pirotto, and D'Anna.

"The Cancilla, Bondi and Caruso families lived in Southern Ontario (Barrie, Collingwood and Holland Landing) and ran Fruit and Vegetable businesses for years. Bondi family married into the Caruso family...still trying to sort out that one and the Cancilla's are also attached to the Caruso line."
Hello,
My Grand Parents came from Trabia - Salvatore Cancilla married Rosa Tortorrici. My Aunt married a Bondi and they moved to Pittsburg - our family lived in Port Hope Ontario and had a fruit market too! I want to go to Trabia next summer - I am sure there are lots of Cancillas there.
Nice to hear from anyone if they have any information on the Cancilla Family
thanks,
Joanne

Hi There All,
I'm doing some research on behalf of my daughter-in-law who is the great-great-granddaughter of Mariano Canciamilla and Caterina DiMatteo, great-granddaughter of Joseph Canciamilla and Carmela Lima, granddaughter of Milton Canciamilla and the daughter of Angela Canciamilla After reading through all of your posts, I have decided that I am not crazy and that there are multiples of the same name within the same generations. I should have known by virtue of the number of Angelas in my daughter-in-laws immediate family lol. I do have a quick question off the top though. Are the names Canciamilla and Cancilla variations of the same last name? And if so, is anyone aware of how the name managed to change from one to the other?
Has anyone else concluded that Mariano Canciamilla's mother was a Sunseri?
I have been meticulously picking through the various records in an effort to cull all of the most accurate information possible and appreciate any help that anyone may be able to offer.
Many Thanks In Advance
Marianne

Marianne,
This is Marlene Rinella. Yes, Mariano's mother was a Sunseri. I have tons of records on the family, esp the Di Matteo line as Milton is my fathers 2nd cousin. I was at Milton's a few years before he died and showed the family what I had in the family tree at that time. Canciamilla and Cancilla are two different families in which we are related. Please PM me and will invite you to my trees on Ancestry.com.

Marlena - I think we have common relatives. I have made quite some progress and came across this post today. There are a few names on the list you made that matches.
