Luca Miceli (~1850 Sicily, Malta)

Post by Sadlygrove »

Hello!
Can you help me, please, to find the information about Luca Miceli from Sicily. He was born in the middle of the 19th century.
I have a photo of him sitting in the middle with my Russian ancestors.

Thank you!

Here is the link of the photo.

Hello,

I found some information on Heritage family trees. This is second hand information – so not sure how accurate it is.

Luca Miceli (born apr.4 1852 Malta – died feb.7 1926 Messina)
His companion is listed as Ulyana Grigorieva ( ?? – died 1880 Taganrog, Russia)
They had a son Anton Grigoriev (mar.8 1871 Taganrog Russia – okt.20 1959 Moscow)

In another tree with Luca Miceli (same date and place of birth and death) he married on sept.5 1875 in Malta to Francesca Miceli (born Ellul) (1854-1935).

He had a brother Marco Miceli (1866-??) and 4 kids:
- Antonio Miceli (1878 - ??)
- Marco Antonio Miceli (1866 - ??)
- Carmelina Miceli (1889 - ??)
- ?????? Miceli
His parent were Antonio Matteo Filippo Miceli (feb. 2 1819 Messina – may 5 1889 Messina) and Sussana Miceli (born Consiglio) (oct. 24 1830 Senglea Malta – mar. 12 1908 Messina)
They married dec. 10 1848 in Senglea Malta.

Sussana Consiglio parents were Bonaventura Consiglio (1785 – avg. 27 1837 Malta) and Teresa Consiglio (born Vegliano). They married avg. 8 1808 in Sengles Malta. Sussana also had a brother Francesco Consiglio (1822 – 1895)

Bonaventura Consiglio parents were Costantinus Consiglio and Caterino Consiglio (born Auturi) (1746 – dec. 23 1830 Sengles Malta)

Constatinus parents were Bonaventura Consiglio (seems he named his son after his father) and Constantina Consiglio (born Bonett).

Teresa Consiglio (Vegliano) parents were Jockin Vegliano and Joanna Rosa Vegliano (born German)

Hope that helps some.

hello, where in Messina did your relatives come from. My grandparents both came from Ali Superiore. They were Rosario D'Angelo and Josephine Miceli. They married in Boston Ma. I have visited Ali which is up in the mountains. Any connection?

Abt the parent's of this Luca Miceli, Antonino Miceli married to Suzanna Consiglio in Senglea, Malta on Dec 10,1848.. It is the same info you posted but directly found on Malta genealogy website

Because the Luca baptism don't result maybe he was born in Messina..

Hello,
Is it true that it’s impossible to apply for Italian citizenship if the ancestor was born before 1861 (the unification of Italy)?

1. No; if the ancestor was born and emigrated before the unification of Italy
(Kingdom of Italy, 17 March 1861) , he should not have died or naturalized before that date.
For the persons born in the territories that were united to Italy later, you should refer to the dates of joining to Italy.

the people born before of 1861 are all italian citizens IF at the date of the declaration of unification they were in the territory that has become Italian territory. But this is no your problem because Luca went back in Sicily after his birth in Malta and married in Sicily and died in Sicily.

The problem is:
the son had in Russia from a russian woman, was recognized from Luca and had Miceli surname?
if yes, all ok, just need to find where Luca went back in Sicily, and surely his birth in Malta was recorded also in the sicilian municipality where he lived when returned from Malta.

So, if the son was recognized, need to find his transcribed birth record in the sicilian municipality and to ask the birth certificate in the civil records office of this municipality.

Thanks for the answer!

His son from Russia had different surname (from his mother).
But they stayed connected until the revolution in Russia (as I know) and I have a photo of them together in the beginning of 20th century.

I am not sure will it help somehow.
Also I will try to ask my relatives to find more evidence

the only evidence recognized from italian government, it is the recognizement when the son was born. To have the surname of his italian father.
That is,that Luca recognized his son and gave him his italian surname at birth or later through official documents. Otherwise only the son could claim paternity, but as long as Luca was alive.
He will reclaim it by taking legal action.
