Matteo Foresto emigration to Brasil

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

I hope someone can find the emigration record that will show Matteo Foresto's age when he went down there.

Here is a daughter of Matteo and Rosa

Carolina Foresto was christened on 13 September 1897 in Descalvado, São Paulo, Brasil
Link to record: Top left of image
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... A6DGJ-78WY

Marriage of son Giovanni in Piavon (#6, Parte II) recorded in Motta in 1923, marriage in Piavon 18 March 1922.
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... at=2387890

AND in the same year...
Marriage of Girolamo in Motta di Livenza (#50, Parte I) on 1 September 1923
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... at=2387890

In both of the above marriage records, Matteo is deceased and Rosa is residing in Motta.
Perhaps Matteo died in Motta. Finding a death act will help to establish an approximate year of birth.
I have been searching deaths before 1923, but there are several years missing.

These are some great finds.
I appreciate all of the hard work.
What would be your best guess of where to find where Matteo Foresto was born and the Foresto family is coming from.

Hi Trevisan2 - You've probably already looked at the current distribution of the surname Foresto in Italy:

http://www.gens.info/italia/it/turismo- ... c3hEi-B1qs

You can see that there are many occurrences of the name in and around Turin. Just for fun, I entered "Foresto" into the search box on the 1862-1876 map of Italy. Interestingly, there was a place known as "Foresto," about 40 miles west-northwest of Turin. You can see it in the center of this part of the map:

https://maps.arcanum.com/en/map/europe- ... Hr4fqtJbhk

To give you an idea of the scale of this view, the town of Bussoleno is 3 kilometers east-southeast of Foresto. Bussoleno is still there, but as far as I can see, Foresto doesn't exist on a current Google map of the same area.

The name on the map may not have anything to do with the surname "Foresto," but the location of the map-name "Foresto" is very close to the current distribution of that surname in northwest Italy.

Good luck,

Joe

Sante Giuseppe FORESTO born in Motta di livenza on 31 oct 1882 son of Matteo, farmer, 31 old and of Rosa Serafin farmer also...
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... at=2387890
the child was not introduced to the officer because of the flood that had occurred ..
I think that all the family was born in Motta di Livenza..

This is an amazing find!!
Grazie Mille!!

The Sante Giuseppe could match the Grandfather Giuseppe Foresto.

Questions remain.
Sante Giuseppe born 31 OCT 1882.
Sante or Dante Foresto listed on the emigration to Brasil in 1888 age 4 or born in 1884 is another child.

A check of the death records may shed some light on Sante of 1882.

We would like to find Matteo's father Giuseppe so more research can be done.

No Trevisan is the same because Sante was 4 old on 1887 no 1888(!) and he was born in the autumn of 1882, considering that the family arrived in Brasil on May 1887, and that the trip had lasted for a month at that time, so the family embraked on first days of April 1887.. and the cumulative passport was sure requested from Matteo some month before... in this cumulative passport no birthdate of children just of householder, and the other members had the age wrote and just the first name. So around jan 1887 or dec 1886 when Matteo request the passport for the family, provided names and ages of family members, and Sante at this time was 4 years and 2 (or 3) months aged... so all right...
Best,

Here the marriage record of Giuseppe FORESTO, 27 old, peasant, born in Descalvado, Brasil son of late Matteo and of Rosa Foresto( born Serafin) with Maria MONTAGNER 24 old, peasant, born in Chiarano, residing in Motta, daughter of Alessandro and of Angela Panighel. Marriage in Motta di Livenza on 26 Nov 1914.
on the marriage record Maria Montagner recognizing the son born on Oct 1914, Amelio Foresto that was recognized just from Giuseppe as father and of unknown mother, instead with the marriage Maria Montagner stated that she was the biological mother of child https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... at=2387890
