Wondering if the surname could be Iano (starting with the letter "eye"). I see that surname is found in Mistretta.

Or maybe it begins with a "J" - Jacono? Both the surnames (Lo) Jacono/Iacono appear in Mistretta today. I see the surname Iacono in earlier Mistretta CVs.
