Buongiorno: sono argentino e pronipote di Luigi Martegani (nato in Italia circa nel 1853) che insieme al fratello Fortunato (anche italiano nato nel 1864) emigrò in Argentina. Il loro padre si chiamava Paolo Martegani e la loro madre era Giulia ma non sappiamo con certezza il suo cognome, che poteva essere Maralle, Martini o Gelpi. Per favore, ho bisogno dell'aiuto di qualcuno che mi può guidare per sapere di quale città erano originari Luigi e Fortunato e come ottenere il loro certificato di nascita o di battesimo. Good morning: I am Martin from Argentina. I am the great-grandson of Luigi Martegani (born in Italy around 1853) who together with his brother Fortunato (also Italian born in 1864) emigrated to Argentina. Martegani is a very distinctive Lombard surname, mostly found in the province of Varese, that in the nineteenth century was part of the province of Como.
But a surname is not enough to pinpoint a town or village as Luigi's place of birth. Do you have other info about him?
