Catasti Onciari that have been digitized in Naples

Post by williamsburger »

I'm interested in reviewing the catasto onciario record for Caulonia/Castelvetere. According to the Archivio di Stato di Napoli's database, this record is available in digital form in the archive's reading room, but I'm not able to travel there at the moment. If I were to request a copy of this record from the photo reproduction service, would it cost the same as a record that hasn't been scanned? Does anyone have any experience with a similar situation? Thank you!

It would be half the price of one that has not been scanned but the price is about 2-3 cents a page so it depends how many pages there are. It can run anywhere from 200-2000 euro.

Thank you so much for this reply! Perhaps I could ask them to send me the index pages at the front (assuming the town has them) and then request the specific pages that my ancestors appeared on.

You can do that or just ask them to search for pages with your surname AS HEAD OF HOUSEHOLD.

Thank you so much for this great advice! I'll definitely try that. Would the "carte/pagine" section of the request form be the correct place to say this?

For some reason I have not been able to access the catasti onciari or anything else in the database on the website of Archivio of the Catasto of Napoli. Has anyone else been able to figure out how to get in. Even when doing a google search, the page links do not work.
