Ciao! I might have found my great grandfather's birth record, but wonder if anyone knows about how births were recorded for confirmation.
On the attached screenshot, "Enrico" Farro is listed as #35, followed by #36 Giovanni Antonio, and #37 Apollonia. Does that mean that they are all siblings since the name "Farro" is large and the first names all follow? What confuses me is that Giovanni and Apollonia are listed as "97" and "98" as registry numbers, and Enrico is #45. I at first thought that maybe Giovanni and Apollonia were twins, but see that same sequence too often for that to be statistically true.
Any help you can offer is greatly appreciated!

Ignore the left column. That's just keeping a tally of the births that year. In this set of indices you are looking at the column on the right of the names which should be the No of the birth record. Hope that makes sense.

Thanks for responding Angela! So does that mean that those "Farros" would not be siblings unless they are twins?
Meanwhile, with further research, I think my great grandfather's name was "Giuseppe Farro" who would have been born around 1865 to 1875. Back to the drawing board tomorrow !

No 97 and No 98 might be twins. You would need to look at the record to determine whether they have the same parents. Often with twins though it will state this in the index, but not always. You would see the word gemella or gemello next to the name and often it will also have this under the Record No and name of child in the actual birth record. In most of the records I have ever seen relating to the birth of twins it will record this in the respective record and which child was born first. (You would know which was born first anywhere because the time of birth is always included.)
