Searching for Franciso Merlo, born Fumo, Italy 1857
Hello, am hoping anyone out there might know where I can look up records for my ancester, Francesco (Francis) Merlo/Merle born in 1857 in Fumo, Italy. He moved to UK at some point and I know he died in 1912 in London. His father (also Francis Merlo) was the proprietor of the Grande Hotel Vicotria in Naples in 1908 and I am also trying to find out what happened to the hotel and Francis' family.

There is village of Fumo which is part of the town of Corvino San Quirico in the Lombardy Region. This is not close to Naples...

As to the hotel... There is a Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria on the Gulf of Naples in Sorrento. It dates from 1834, and it a luxury hotel.
HOWEVER, the hotel has been owned and run by the FIORENTINO family since 1834.
