Marispini/Maraspin Research

Post by spini937 »

Hi everyone!

I attempted years ago to search for some answers & am attempting to search again now.

So my great-great-grandfather Dominick Maraspin died in San Antonio Texas in 1916. I found his death certificate, stating he was born in Austria (Trieste?) and states his father's name was Stephen (birthplace Austria) & mother's name was Douthuded(?...the coroner's writing is atrocious...).

Is there anyone with information out there that can provide a lead for me to continue past Dominick & break through with learning more about my family history past 1916?

Thank you all for the help & potential genealogical research!

The mother's name is written "Don't Know" on that death record just fyi - will look into this a little bit tonight to see if anything turns up. Whether it's true or not someone on familysearch has his mother's name listed currently as 'Susie Markowitz'. May be worth messaging the user that added this as they may have some more personal info.

This name appears to come from Trieste or the area immediately surrounding in modern Croatia and Slovenia. A couple people pop up from Piran.

Your fellow had been in Texas since at 1894 at least, meaning even if we were to find an arrival manifest (which I currently don't see) chances are it won't have a residence town listed.
