Re: Father Occupation Translation
I'm understanding that he was basically a stone mason. I can't exactly read the word there. It reads C...pietra which got me thinking he had something to do with stones.
Guided by a tree I located on Family Search, I managed to locate the following two records:
His 1866 marriage record where he gives his occupation as a muratore - bricklayer/stonemason
Pietro Cusmai and Giulia Azzollini 1866 Marriage:
https://antenati.cultura.gov.it/ark:/12 ... 85/wkAJ3Vg
Their son Mauro's 1868 birth record, where his occupation is p(i)etrarolo - stone mason/wall builder/quarryman
Birth No 1099: https://antenati.cultura.gov.it/ark:/12 ... 75/LN9Dbll
Edit to Add:
One more:
Birth No 58 Francesca Cusmai born 10 January 1881
Pietro’s occupation is P(i)etrarolo
https://antenati.cultura.gov.it/ark:/12 ... 13/5Y7oKp3
And the last one for now:
1874 Birth No 267: Rita Cusmai, born in Molfetta on 29 March 1874 to Pietro Cusmai, son of the deceased Francesco, 38 yo, a p(i)etrarolo, living in Molfetta, Strada Madonna di Martiri, No 12, and to his wife, Giulia Azzollini, daughter of Nicola.

Re: Father Occupation Translation
It might be "cavapietre", i.e. a worker in a stone quarry.
Giuseppe "Pippo" Moccaldi

Re: Father Occupation Translation
Initially, like Pippo, I also thought the word might be cavapietre, and it might be, but when I look at the word I'm not seeing cavapietre (but c.a.pietre) so that is why I decided to find his marriage record and birth records pertaining to his children. My thinking is he probably worked in a quarry as a stone cutter. Happy to help.
