Help with name on Baptismal for a Sparacio

Post by italian059 »

Would someone please verify the name of the child born. It is the first record on the right side of the page. Looks like Caeranu but never heard of that name, maybe Caetana but thinking this is a male. Also it looks like there was another child born,Nicolo. I am guessing he didn't make it. 3rd record on same page. Please verify. Thanks so much.
Mary

The name of the child is Gaetano Maria Ignazio.
Maria is given as a second name also for males for devotion to the Virgin Mary.

Gaetano Maria Ignazio, son of Giovanni Sparacio and Anna Chiazza, born on November 4th, 1749, at about 12 o'clock in the morning, was baptized sub condicione by priest Don Paolo de Luca, because he was baptized at home by the midwife.
Godparents were Giuseppe and Maria Dimuri, spouses.

The other child, Nicola, was baptized at home by midwife because he was in danger of death, and passed away.
He was the twin of Gaetano Maria Ignazio, because the parents were the same.
I think they were baptized at home because it was a difficult birth and so Nicola didn't survive.
