Help with Migration to London 1860's

Post by MiffyG »

Hi,
My ancestor Giovanni Frassenelli (or Frassenelle) was born in Pontremoli (we think) in March 1938. He married in London Lydia Barrell in 1865, so we assume he arrived late 1850's or early 1860's. He died in London in 1925.
We know his father was also called Giovanni and was a Tailor by trade.
I would be most interested to know when he arrived and on which ship. We assume he would have left from Genoa as it's the closest to Pontremoli.

I have searched and searched, but have hit a brick wall.
Any help anyone could offer would be most gratefully received.

Many thanks
Gill

Hello,

Are you sure that Giovanni’s father was called Giovanni?

A Giovanni Frassinelli was born in Pontremoli on 24 June 1837.
His father was Giorgio and he was indeed a tailor. #184

The one you mentioned as being born in March 1838 (on the 26th) was called Giovanni Battista and his father was Antonio, shoemaker. #80
