San Giuliano Nuovo (Alessandria) records

Post by Gero »

Hi everyone, I'm having a problem with my research.

My great-great-grandparents, Pietro Verna (1880-1973) and Paola Mandrino (1878-1968), were born and married in San Giuliano Nuovo. He was the son of Giuseppe Verna and Luigia Di Bocchio, and she was the daughter of Antonio Mandrino and Franchesca Bottero.

The issue I have is that Antenati has fully digitized the Alessandria civil records, but only up to 1865, leaving a 20-year gap that prevents me from moving foward with my research. FamilySearch has the 1866-1903 records on microfilm (DGS 7829631), but they have not yet been digitized.
I haven't been able to get in touch with the parish of San Giuliano Nuovo (I already contacted the diocese), and the municipality of Alessandria is currently charging 300 euros per certificate.

I was wondering if any of you regulary visit the Alessandria archives, and might be willing to help me cover those 20 years. After that, I'll be able to continue on my own using Antenati.

Thank you very much in advance for your help.

Towns usually only charge the €300 for extracts for citizenship purposes. They can charge the 300 for other documents, but you might try asking for a copy of the original for genealogy purposes and see if they ask for money for that.
