Esteemed colleagues,
My search is not for a specific person or lineage; it is for a set of documents that, until this past week, I did not know were available on Family Search.
The city of Palermo created 10-year indexes for birth, death and marriage throughout the 19th century starting in 1820 (the first is a 16-year, from 1820-1835). With some exceptions, after about 1865, the index is the only available record of these events, especially for the core portions of Palermo city. I say "available" because I think that certified copies of actual documents can be obtained from an office in Palermo. Anyone interested in experiencing first-hand the excruciating aspects of Italian bureacracy are welcome to apply. These 10-year indexes are freely available on Antenati.
A colleague made available to me an index covering births from 1896-1905:
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... ang=en&i=3
As can be seen, it is volume 2, covering the letters D,E,F,G,H,I. So clearly, there was a volume 1 for A,B,C; for the letters following I in the alphabet, it is not known how many volumes there were. My colleague did not know of links to those other volumes, he only knew the link to the one I have provided above.
These index volumes were clearly the ones used by Hugh Tornabene to generate his sort-able MS-Excel files of the same data. I believe that those are now behind a paywall in Ancestry; I have copies that were earlier downloaded from Tornabene's free site, in case anyone is interested.
Is there anyone with FS search skill better than mine who might find these original index volumes? Although I doubt it, there might also be index volumes of deaths and marriages for the same 1896-1905 interval.
Thanks,
Parker

Hi, Parker-
You have helped me a time or two before, so I hope this returns the favor. I think (hope) this is the link you're looking for...

Wow, thanks Mark, now I can check Aiello and Caporrimo
Still on the search for the volumes of alphabet after letter I.
The urls of first and second volumes are similar up to a certain point, maybe I'll tinker some more, but not this week.

Re: Need help with a Search in Family Search
Thank you Thank you !!
It turns out that the second link from mjclayton contains links to the letters D,E,F,G,H,I, but also the letters L,M,N,O,P,Q,R,S,T(partial)
So there is a bit or redundancy, which is usually a good thing. Perhaps this is a case of FamilySearch re-scanning documents; or perhaps they obtained a redundancy in packages from Palermo.
I have been having difficulty with messaging and some other functions on the ItalGen site, which has delayed my timely expressions of gratitude!

Parker-
I've received soooooooo much incredible help from sooooooo many great folks here over the last decade-plus. I'm very happy I could help you here, if only a smidgeon.
Good luck with your ongoing research...
Mark
[p.s. - props to Farassino as well...)

True dat!! We all pay it forward. Have not found a comparable site for other groups that I’ve experienced.
