Appearing before the official were Antonino Viola, 43 yo, becchino (grave digger), and Giuseppe Torce, 43 yo, becchino, both living in S. Margherita. They reported that at 4.07 pm yesterday ( 6 September 1899) in the house in Via Duomo, no number given, Leonardo Monteleone died at the age of 75. He was a bracciante (day labourer), born and residing in S. Margherita, the son of the deceased Antonino, also a bracciante, and of the deceased Francesca Santoro, a casalinga, who had both lived their lives herein. He was the widower of Vittoria Cicio.
