Finding my Grandparents home, Church, relatives

Post by nyrnd1 »

I planning a trip to Maddaloni and Cervino in the early Fall. Thanks to this forum I have gathered significant information about my Italian family. For my visit i was hoping for just a little more information if possible so I'm back seeking help.
My Grandfather was Francesco DeLucia on his birth notice of December 10, 1890. His parents were Antonio DeLucia and Maria Grazie Rivetti (I've also seen Angela). He was born in Cervino. In 1910 or 1914 his name was legally changed to Francesco Di Lucia Sposito. I believe his Father's name was changed about 1886 to the surname Sposito. I am aware of Sposito surname history and use.
My Grandma, Immacolata Elisabetta DiNuzzo was born December 8, 1891 in Maddaloni. Her parents were Gennaro DiNuzzo and Rosa Savinelli (my Mom's namesake).
They were married April 2, 1914 in Maddaloni.
I would like to find the Church they married in as i only have the Civil certificate. I am interested in their home areas and the Churches they attended. I wrote an email to all the Churches i found online and also to the Diocese in Caserta. Unfortunately I've not yet heard back. Any help in finding where they may have lived would be great. They were both farmers and I understand when they married they lived on the farm. If there is a way to contact possible relatives it would be really nice. Also finding the Churches they may have attended and how i may get a copy of their wedding certificate not the civil one. I'm attaching some information that might be helpful Thank you as always.

Immacolata Elisabetta Di Nuzzo was born on 8 December 1891 in the hamlet of Montedecoro, near Maddaloni.

In Montedecoro there is the parish of S. Maria di Montedecoro. The girl was probably baptised there.
In Italy, it is customary—though not compulsory—to hold a church wedding in the bride’s parish. It is therefore likely that the marriage record is in that parish’s registers.

Here's the Birth Record for Genaro di Nuzzo. Born, I believe, 20 Sep 1850 and baptized on the 24th. His parents are Nicola di Nuzzo (age 26) and Elisabetta Termieri (sp.?) (age 25). As indicated (suggested) by mmogno above, the baptism took place in Montedicoro (in that parish).

Thanks to you guys so far I have contacted via email and Facebook Messenger Father Don Pasquale and hoping for a response. The DiNuzzo documents greatly help focusing on the family there. This is so amazing.

Here's the Birth Record for Rosa Savinelli. Born 25 May 1856 and baptized the next day in, I believe, the parish of Santa Annunziata. But I defer to EXPERTS like mmogno for interpretation of that. :D

Parents were Carlo (di living Francesco), age 40 and Margarita Barisciano (sp.), age 37.

Elisabetta’s surname is definitely Iermieri, a name typical of Cerreto Sannita (province of Benevento).

OK, so much information. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I now have the exact address of my Grandfather at birth as 12 Via Prota in Cervino. I don't think that street exists anymore but it will provide me an area to visit. I will try to figure exactly which Church was used. I've not heard back from any of the Churches yet in Maddaloni, Cervino or Caserta. Its been only 5 days so hopefully soon. I have so much information now on Savinelli and DiNuzzo that i'm working on getting everything together and in order. Finding they lived in the "hamlet" of Montedecoro outside Maddaloni is a giant help. I sent emails to St. Maria but I'll check to see if it could have been another Church in the area. I wonder if there is any way i can determine if any relatives are there whom I could meet during my visit? Any hints would be helpful. Again, thanks guys for this awesome help
