Re: calogera Giovanna Cosmo? Mangiameli-birth
Baptism on Sept 26, 1748 of Calogera Giovanna Cosma, daughter of Giuseppe and Angela Mangiameli and Bresci, spouses, born yesterday at about 1 in the night. Godparents were Giuseppe Bartolotta and Antonina, wife of Vincenzo Lanza.
*Bresci is Angela’s surname before her marriage to Giuseppe Mangiameli.

Cosma è un nome maschile. Secondo me si tratta del battesimo di un maschietto: Calogero Giovanni Cosma, anche se poi c'è un natam heri hora prima noctis.
Anche nell'indice leggo Calogerus Manciameli f 7

Si, il nome proprio Cosma e` maschile e non femminile. Un errore grave sulla mia parte. The word "natam" also threw me off, as I thought it was feminine. Grazie, G.
The baptism record is for a male named Calogero Giovanni Cosma.

Re: calogera Giovanna Cosmo? Mangiameli-birth
Hello
when i read again the record i see and A for Calogera not an O based on the style of writing on the rest of the record.
I see nata not natam
i see filia not filius
i do not see baptized maschietto
is there another record i should find?
Any advice?
Best

I have to agree with mmogno that the baptism record is for a male. The index is image 8 of 687, and the name is clearly Calogerus there. In the record itself, I see Calogerus Joannes Cosma, all Latin male names. The word for son is filius there, not filia, which is for daughter. The only thing that now has me puzzled is the word nata. The word should be natus, as in the three records at the bottom of the left page.
The word maschietto which means baby boy in Italian is not in the church record.

@ erudita,
I see the calogerus in index
BUT in the record look in the lines above at the word Pumara the "a" tail goes up and curves right as i see in Filia and calogera,
the date fits the time i am in need of.
i am just going to at this time to disagree.
Thank you so much for the help.
I will keep this rendition in the back of my mind
hopefully i will find another record that fits but i have not been successful at this time
