It is best to collect all available US documentation before attempting to trace the family in Italy. Birth, marriage and death records on all family members leading back to immigration, starting with yourself.
Naturalization records can provide wonderful clues. You can confirm place of birth if listed and parents names.

If the family can be found on a US census, it will reveal wether or not the individual was naturalized and the year.

- Did they live in PA?
Could help in finding ship manifest & original records from Italy.

I found her parents; Mom's alive, dad is dead. the reunion worked great. Martha has a family she never new; very accepting. there have been a few get-togethers where she ahs met many family. she needs to know the rest. your help, and the help of all your friends on this site has brought a lot of tears.........good tears! Maybe they were not maried in Buffalo!

dgreen,
Thank you for the update, we appreciate being able to put the research in context!
We'll all see what we can do.
from your original note: Rodolfo Capraro, possibly related manifest? Going to NY in 1913?
- Do you have the name of his Amato family sponsors?
- Did they live in Buffalo in 1913?
This manifest is pretty difficult to read.

Yes, this is the right Angelo Amato. He and Maria, (Mary), had two additional children after Carmello. thanks

Hi the person your looking for is my great grandmother no she did not come from Italy she was born in PA she married Angelo Amato aka Rudolfo Capraro who was born in Italy 1895. He came here changed his name to Angelo Amato. If you go to the Amato Tree on ancestry.com you will have all the information you need including his original birth certificate from Italy. Together they had 5 children Charles, Rudy, George (aka Greg) Joseph (my grandfather) and Carmela--All married except Carmela. My great grandfather had 1 brother Calogero and 1 sister Sebastiana they both married and had children. Sebastian had 6 children all their birth cert etc are in the tree. as for Calogero still working him Calogero was born 20 Dec 1889 Campobello di Licata, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy.
Sabastiana 28 Feb 1892 in agrigento passed in May 13, 1972 in Sufflok Ma

Hope this helps :) :D
