Possible 1912 ship manifest for Anna Starace, line 21, 2 page manifest

Anna Starace, edited age 17, married
Last residence and place of birth Stigliano
Destination Hartford CT to join brother Antonio, Front St

I'll post the link to a possible Gabriele manifest from 1906 in a minute. It states single. Edited to read So there should be another manifest if Anna's marital status is listed correctly.

Biff, edited that post on page 1, may have been married
in CT since she was joining her brother?
Sorry, Valarie

Sorry, Valarie
Valarie,
Although I trust the ship manifests more than the census records, her marital status could have been listed incorrectly. I also found it strange she would be joining her brother, and he was the one who paid her fare.

Possible 1st Jennie born abt 1919 died.
Jennie born abt 1927 may be named for
her? (or the original family namesake)
Valarie
Good point Valerie. Thanks for pointing that out... Something to definitely look into. There was a big flu epidemic around the 1920's which killed several people...

Yes, this is the manifest I posted on the first page along with the other Venditozzi's manifests.

added edit:
Since Anna was joinging her Brother Antonio who also lived on Front Street, it is possible she met Gabriele in Connecticut through him. Since their first child wasn't born until about 1915, it is most likely that they did marry in Connecticut...just my thoughts. A 1910 census would really help...maybe Gabriele was a boarder in Antonio's home (or vica versa) or lived nearby.

Now we just need to wait for the poster to confirm/comment on all this info! :D :D

My opinion on Anna's marital status as shown on her ship manifest. Using the location search here and giving myself a quick geography lesson, I located three listings for Stigliano, none of which are located anywhere near Sessa Aurunca. I think her marital status was listed incorrectly on the ship manifest.

I not sure I agree...see my edit above. Do you think we can locate the 1910 Census for either Gabriele or Antonio?

In paging through the 1910 census to locate residents at 22 Village St, Hartford, Gabriele's destination per the 1906 manifest, I located one family, the Goldberg's. Will page through census records for Front Street later to see if I can locate any listing for either Gabriele or Antonio Starace.

John, I tried to do the same but have company now. I did a search to see the common EDs for both Front and Village and it seems that the common eds are 158 (I think) and 161. There were near one another.

For reference for anyone wishing to know how to use the tool..

Thank you all for your replies. So much great info and advice. I will do charting from myself backward. The following family list of my grandparents and their children is correct. My grandfather was a gardener. My father is Tony (born Nov. 4, 1922). I believe on the earlier census where they listed the children as Peter, Michael and "James," it should have read Peter, Michael and "John." He was the next child in the birth order as is listed below.
Gabriele Wantetozze 45 (abt 1885)
- married age 28 (abt 1911-13)
- immig 1908 Al
- gardener, greenhouse
Annie 34 (abt 1896)
- married age 17
- immig 1912 Al
Note children all born in CT
Peter 15 (abt 1915)
Michael 12 (abt 1918)
John 10 (abt 1920)
Tony 7 (abt 1923)
Mary 6 (abt 1924)
Carmella 3 10/12 (abt 1926)
Jennie 2 10/12 (abt 1927)

Before you decide, have a look at the actual image (link) to the first census. James was really Jennie born before John and after Micheal. She may have died young (her year of birth is about 1919 but is not on the next census for 1930). My guess is she probably died after Carmella (abt 1926) and thats why the next child was named Jennie.

Do you know the cemetery where most of the family is buried? If so, you could contact them and see if there was a child by that name buried there. You could also write away for her birth or death records..
