finalmente the end

Hi: I just wanted to leave a few words of encouragement to everyone who is attempting to apply for dual citizenship. I finally submitted all my paperwork last week to the consulate with no problems. It took about six months to gather everything, including a trip to Italy to get my grandparents birth certificates. My recommendations are: to be organized, follow the requirements exactly, and study your italian. I was told it would take up to a year and a half for everything to be processed. Good luck to everyone.

Congratulations! What wonderful news!

May I ask which consulate?

All the best, Peg

It was the vice consulate in Newark, NJ.

Congratualations!

I had a question. Were you required to submit a certificate of Italian citizenship for your ancestor?

I'm lacking this one document and my consulate requires it. I have everything else. I've been waiting for about 8 months for a response from Italy about the certificate. (I have written them since, but I still have not received a response).

New York did not require a certificate of citizenship so I would guess that Newark (one of its vice consulates) also does not.

Congratulations, Babalusci!!!
