I did not know that. Thankyou.

And, the reason i said my Gr Grandmothers name is Rose Alea (Skepes) Brank is because that is exactly how it is spelled on her obituary.

Hey suanj :D !
Thank you for the clarification on Schepis.
It's a shame that the mother's name doesn't
seem correct for the location, you're right it
is written pretty clearly.
Perhaps writing away for some of the vital
records in the US will help.
Thanks! Valarie

Thanks for researching. This could possibly be my Gr Grandmother, some of her siblings, and my GR GR GR Grandmother. I think that because my Gr Grandmothers Mother died when my gr grandmother was 1 year old.
What confuses me though, is i thought my Gr Grandmother Rose AleaSkepes came to the USA with her Father/I don't know his name though, so he could have also been on this ship?

According to the census that is linked to above, he name appears to be "Tony"...more then likely "Antonio". Stated he arrived in 1903...not unusual for the husband to come first and the wife and children to arrive later.

One thing, the son Domenico is a citizen. If you look for his naturalization papers in PA, you might find out more about his parents and where they came from. It appears to be Lipari, which is on an island off of the northern coast of Siciliy proper, called Isola Lipari.

It appears that the mother died before this census so it could be when Rosalia was very young...but after the age of 4 most likely.

This should give you a start. Make sure you contact any living relatives you can and see what they might know...cousins, etc. Also see if you can find the cemetery where these people are buried. The cemetery records are often full on information.

Good Luck.....

Hello,
I found out the cemetery (St. Matthew Cemetery-Saltsburg, Pa.) where my Gr Grandmother Rose Alea Skepes is burried in. I emailed the Church there for any records they may have on her. I have not heard back yet.

Also, i amstill trying to figure out WHO Madolina Biosone is? And HOW she was related to Rose Alea Skepes.

Madolina Biosone according to the 1907 manifest
is Domenico, Francesco & Rosaria's mother.
In Italy women use their maiden names.
Also on this manifest are possible naturalization
notations for Domenico & Francesco.

from essgee (above):
One thing, the son Domenico is a citizen.
If you look for his naturalization papers in PA,
you might find out more about his parents and
where they came from.
