1912 Manifest for Sebastiano based on Laura's great detainee find.

Page 1

Page 2

edited to add 1905 Sebastiano manifest
1905 Manifest

More possible clues in both manifests since Sebastiano was travelling with others to Pueblo.

Boy...you guys are jumping! Saw the other Martinelli arrivals earlier...there are definately Martinelli's there....

When did Joe die? Some time frame could help. Could Rose have remarried a Martinelli? Was Joe's real name Giuseppe or something else?

Never have seen a census--actualy both 1920 and 1930 where there was hide nor hair of anyone in the family. Even looked to New Mexico....nothing.....

We need on piece of factual information that occurs prior to 1930. A birth certificate for one of the children...something that will give their address at the time. Do we know where they married?

He didn't appear to list himself with the WWI registrations.

Guess we keep looking........

Anything.......

mgonzales....

Had you heard of the name Schilibra or Silabra before? Or anything similar? The above appears to be the correct family...yet, hard to tell. I do know that in Burgio, the name SCILABRA and MATINELLA exist...and Matinella is near enough to Martinella/i/o.

Will be quite interested to see what you can find.

mgonzales -

I've been following the thread and have a couple of questions (just to satisfy my curiousity)

Where did the murder of your great grandfather take place?

What happened to Rose after her husband was murdered?

Is great aunt Mary Roses daughter?

Again, just curious.

abt Mafia in Pueblo, CO:
Italian organized crime in the state first surfaced in southern Colorado and was headed by brothers Pete and Sam Carlino of Pueblo. Pete Carlino had earned the nickname "the Al Capone of southern Colorado." By late 1930, the brothers felt they were strong enough to expand their bootlegging empire and take control of the Denver area. Joe Roma, the boss of the city, agreed to a sit down with the brothers in an effort to head off a gang war. On January 24, 1931, Roma sponsored a meeting of 30 of Colorado's top bootleggers. The police department was informed of the meeting, which was being held in the city's Italian district, and sent a raiding party. Unfortunately the meeting was interrupted before a compromise was agreed upon, and the police, unwittingly, ignited a gang war.

Another organized crime figure was James Colletti who attended the Apalachin Conference in 1957 (not to be confused with the James Colletti murdered in 1931). Colletti was born in Italy in 1897. After arriving in the United States he had several arrests in the New York City / New Jersey area before moving west and settling in Pueblo, Colorado. At one time listed as a member of the New York Bonanno Family, this confusion may have been due to his being involved in the ownership of the Colorado Cheese Company with Joseph Bonanno. In a Life Magazine article in 1967 he was named as the boss of Colorado. Colletti, in some publications, has been listed as having run the family until 1972, with James Spinuzzi taking over the family leadership until 1975...

maybe your ancestor worked with Pete and Sam Carlino of Pueblo....
I searched so much, but, frankly, no one of your Martinelli ancestors... and in 1930 almost Buster Martinelli must be... nothing... no Joseph in WWI draft registration card... also by other keys in all database ... no results... In Calabria it are especially the Martinello surname... also some Martinelli, but little rilevance.... I believe that Martinelli is right spell.. my doubt is abt the italian birthplace.... you know the birthadte of all children of Joseph and Rose? the Joseph death must be after the last child birth.... just for to have a better suggestion.... regards, suanj

suanj....

Great information... Would you have any idea about why Joe and Rose appear to be in the 1920 Colorado census listed under the surname of Scilabra. The name occurs in Burgio along with some of the Matinelli/Martinelli names.

Can't quite figure this one out.

Thanks for any ideas!

Have a great one! Susan

Hi susan I don't know if the 1920 is right.... It is strange... Scilabra is a right surname.... the Pete and sam Carlino coming from Lucca Sicula.. also this is strange... in the previous page of this topic... Lucca Sicula is mentioned.... I don't understand why Martinelli don't are in the ancestry.com database .... I believe that the surname is correct also... otherwise as it is possible that Buster and Joseph had a false surname....? if born as Scilabra and in the WWII draft card Buster is really with Martinelli surname...? in this topic it are something that don't match..

Joe Scilabra was born in Burgio the 13 Dec 1889....... by WWI draft reg. card.....
he don't is in U.S. World War II Draft Registration Cards, 1942
............................................................
and this is another mystery also..............
kisses, suanj
