i'm looking for my relative Antonio Argenta
Hi! i want to discover if my relative Antonio Argenta lived in the u.s.a and how long he has been there... i discovered that he arrived in the usa the 5th november 1904 in Elli's Island.He's from Belluno, Italy but i don't know why he came from Havre, France by the ship La Touraine. Now i have to find where he went....can you help me?

Dal manifesto del 1904 sembra che Antonio viaggiasse assieme ad un parente (forse un fratello?) Giuseppe Argenta.... entrambi andavano in Pennsylvania a Manor (contea di Westmoreland)

Andavano presso il cognato Zucco Giacomo / Giacobbe (credo fosse la stessa persona forse solo un errore di trascrizione... per questo motivo credo che i due Argento fossero parenti) ....
Potresti essere un po' piu' preciso riguardo a ciò che cerchi? Questa persona ha vissuto sempre in USA o è tornata in Italia? Nel manifesto dichiara di essere sposato, la moglie lo ha raggiunto? Sai in quale Stato ha vissuto?
Io intanto cerco ma se mi potessi dare qualche altro indizio mi faciliteresti molto....

ciao!scusa se non ho più risposto... cmq sono riuscita ad avere le informazioni giuste dalla figlia di questo mio parente ed eravamo proprio fuori strada...
è nato nel 1879 ed era sposato con Maria Spanghero che è di origini Montenegrine in teoria ma si sono conosciuti in Germania...è stato arruolato nell'esercito il 16-08-1916 e congedato il 16-08-1919.
è nato a S. Gregorio quindi guardando su Elli's island è arrivato da Treviso in America il 20 Novembre 1920. Dice però anche che la destinazione finale è Anport, PA ma in Pennsylvania ho guardato e non c'è nessuna città che si chiama così oppure ho guardato male....come posso andare avanti?Secondo sua figlia, lui è stato a Detroet ma secondo altri documenti risiedeva a Delmont....

Reason for France departure:
Alot of Italians migrated first to France and Germany for work. (I have distant relatives in Germany). So there are probably records of them in France as well.
Anyways, right before France gave the Statue of Liberty to the USA, for in part, appreciation of California grape farmers giving grape plants to France(France's grape plants got diseased and were wiped out), France passed a new immigration law kicking out the Italians, so the emigrants who went to France moved on either to England first or straight to USA and South America.
Note:Italy,and Australia also sent grape plants to France.
Boring stuff: Russian wheat actually descends from american wheat as all Russian wheat got diseased during late 19th century and american farmers sent them their wheat seed to grow.

If your relative was present in USA, and was not naturalized in 1940, there should be an alien registration card record. It didn't matter if they had petitioned and were in process of getting naturalization,every foreigner had to register with US post office in 1940 and then they would receive card for identification that they had to carry at all times. These applications are available through FOIA request via State dept.
