Girgenti now Agrigento, Postale 92100 in the province of the same name has no civil records on microfilm in the nearest Mormon family history library to your home. You might wish to write to the Uffico di Stato Civile in the comune of Agrigento, Sicily and make inquiries into the availability of a family certifcate based upon Giuseppe Rinaldi as head of family in which Pietro and his siblings are part. =Peter=

I am posting Pietro's Ellis Island manifest for reference. This record shows that he is meeting his brother Luigi at 351 E 30th St. in NYC and he leaves another brother Rinaldo in Castro F. Have you researched these brothers yet?

Dear CCMorganas an addendum to my advice in obtaining a Family certificate (certificato di Stato di Famiglia) from the Ufficio di Stato Civile in Agrigento you might want to use the form letter in Italian located at www.mangeruca.com for such inquiries. There is no fee but you might want to enclose postal coupon for $5-10 since it is an end of day duty for poorly paid clerks. =Peter=

Re: Pietro Rinaldi & Angelina Ricottone of Castrofilippo
Thank you all for posting responses to my messages and for
giving me your ideas which are very helpful. I did contact
the Castrofillipo town hall but they are requesting the specific
reason why I need the info. This request is for more than
just genealogical curiosity. Is there someone out there who
would be willing to help me translate my letter into Italian
so there is no misunderstanding? I will begin the letter
using the form letters as suggested but must adapt it
further.
Happy New Year to my new friends online !
