Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

Would all names need to be amended or just my grandfathers?

As the documents arrive, the surnames are off by 1 letter!!

jwazevedo wrote:You'll want to check with your consulate. Generally, the surnames have to match up. You will likely have to go through the process of amending the American records with a court order. That process has been discussed a few times in this forum, and you can see what others have done by searching the forum. Good luck!

Your consulate is the only one who can answer this question, as they have the final say. Have you posed the question to them yet?

Good luck,

No, we havent contacted a consulate.

We have a sibling in PA and the rest of us are in CT. So we have to decide who should apply first and where.

Talk to them both! It's an easy way to get an answer to what's troubling you, and the answers might help you decide which consulate to use as a start.
