WWII

As a nation state, Italy has emerged only in 1871. Until then the country was politically divided into a large number of independant cities, provinces and islands. The currently available evidences point out to a dominant Etruscan, Greek and Roman cultural influence on today's Italians.

Hello, yes you can request the "ruolo matricolare". It is usually kept by the state archive in the province where the person lived.

No, they are usually kept at "Archivio di Stato" (one per province)

Most of them are not online, but some are.
It depends on the province.
What province are you interested in?
