Marriage Certificate for 2x Great Grandparents
Thank you so much for translating my Great Grandmother Rosa Caleca's Birth Certificate. I now have her parents marriage certificate. I'm so excited, it's like a treasure hunt. As requested, below is the link for the document.

Re: Marriage Certificate for 2x Great Grandparents
Dated Nov 17, 1877
This is the not actual marriage record but rather a request that the marriage publications (banns of marriage) be made. The actual publications were posted on the door of the town hall-the first was posted on the 18th. It remained posted there for 7 days when it was replaced on the 25th by the 2nd publication. That one remained posted for three days. The purpose of these publications was to ensure that there were no impediments to the upcoming marriage. The actual marriage would have taken place after Nov 29th but, more than likely, before the end of the 1877 calendar year, since the actual act of matrimonio is not with the 1878 matrimony acts.
As to the info in the marriage publication:
Prospective groom: appearing was Santo Caleca, age 25, pentolaio, resident in Patti, son of Francesco (Caleca), same occupation, and Antonia Aloi, filatrice/spinner
Prospective bride: her father Carmelo Abramo, 53, a shoemaker, is the one who appeared to request that the publications for his daughter’s marriage be made. His daughter, Angela, age 20, an industriosa (manufacturer/trader) was the prospective bride. Angela was also the daughter of Nunzia Costa, of the same occupation as her daughter.

Re: Marriage Certificate for 2x Great Grandparents
That is so interesting. My first inclination was it was a publication of marriage. Now I have another treasure hunt to undertake in search of the marriage record. The best part of this find is the year of their births and having substantial information to move along in the family. The amount of information you transcribed is just wonderful. I knew almost nothing of my grandmothers family. Thank you once again for all your help! Have a lovely day!
Re: Marriage Certificate for 2x Great Grandparents
I meant to clarify in my reply above that the atti di matrimonio for Patti appear to jump from 1876 to 1878, with 1877 being missing online. You will probably have to write to the town to see if it has a notation in its registers concerning the actual marriage date.
