Need Help

Could some one tell me any thing about the culture of Campania? and the town of Afragola(Campania Region),Italy..between the ancient cities of Acerra and Atella..I believe my grandmother came from there..or atleast from the surrounding area of Napoli,as she left from there.I forgot there was some mention of Acerra,but not sure,Isnt this place a ruin?

And we dont know how her name was originally spelled..it could have been either Landretto,Landretta,Landretti or similar,any help would be much appreciated,The people on the ship anglocised it to Landreth.

First name Maria..like that helps out alot.. Birth circa 1888,age of arrival here in the states 21,no spouse, thats about all I know...

Actually, that is a misconception........the names were not changed, just badly mispelled by those who did not understand the accent along with a host of other reasons...........

Hi Lisa thanks, Acerra is in Campania region and the previous manifests was about person of Apulia region( San Severo and Apricena rights) so i searched before the right surname spelling, and after the manifest, and I'm so happy of to help!!many kisses, suanj

Interesting that and the other info the others gave,but not sure if this is the same person,My father only knew his mother-Maria Landreth and he wasn't sure who his father was(he must have been a secret to the family) or if he had any other relatives in the states..only that she was from Italy and the other info I gave..My father was born In Philly,but I wasnt..I was born in Tennessee and only got to see her about 2 times before she died and I was young...Heck Im not even sure where she's buried.Another crappy situation is that she never taught him any Italian or told him much about where she was from..all that family heritage lost..Maybe thats why she kept the name Landreth instead of the Italian form..to sound more American...Who knows.
