Gazzano, San Remo
Gazzano, San Remo
Looking to confirm parents of Luigi Gazzano (Louis Gazano) born in San Remo 1829. He emigrated to New Orleans in 1844. They may have been Francesco and Bianca. He seems to have had siblings: Innocenzo, Bianca, Angelo,Giovanni and Felice. Where are they buried? Francesco may have been a flour merchant. The daughter Bianca may have been a nun or associated with a convent in Rome. She mentioned that her father bankrupted himself helping the citizens of San Remo during a famine or other circumstance in San Remo. What would the locations Borghetto or Bordighera have in connection? Thank you
Re: Gazzano, San Remo
I descend from Luigi, who arrived in New Orleans with his father at age 15 before the Civi War. He was a citizen of Sardinia.
He arrived as a minor and became a citizen in 1857.
His father may have been Francesco or François. His mother Angele Oliva.
He was the father of 7 daughters and one son. A schooner captain on the Mississippi River, living for a time in Edgard, Louisiana.
