Re: Looking for family of my Great-Grandmother Vita Mazzurco
Thank you so very much for this.
I do have a question for you. When I clicked on the link and went to the site, it gives names, but none have my great-grandmother in them.
Am I doing something wrong?
Sincerely,
Lucy

You can continue looking here for birth records:

The indices are at towards the end of the year. See how you get on and get back to us if you need any help. Just click on espandi and all the years 1866-1904 will come up for you to click on.
This is the index for 1884 here showing the “M’s” I don’t see any Biagio Mazzurco listed there so maybe born before or after 1884: https://antenati.cultura.gov.it/ark:/12 ... 31/5K6D3P6

Hello Angela,
Again, thank you so much for this. I will go to the links and check them out. My Italian is not very good at all, but I'll give it a try.

Good on you for trying Lucy!!! If you do find any records, even with a question mark, just post them here or on translations and we can take a look at them for you.
I went through the ten year indices myself and didn’t see any of the syblings that you mention, listed in them. I did however find a possible sybling where the mother’s name is Gaetana not Martina, the father is Giovanni:
Birth No 109: Annunziata Mazzurco of Giovanni (Possible sister of Vita Mazzurco)
Registered in Regalbuto on 24 February 1882
Appearing was Gaetana Caprone, 36 yo (c.1846), filatrice (spinner), living in Regalbuto. She reported that at 1 am on 20 of the current month (I.e. 20 February 1882) in Via Cancerione, from her legitimate union with Giovanni Mazzurco, a peasant/farmer was born a baby girl who she presented and gave the name of Annunziata.
https://antenati.cultura.gov.it/ark:/12 ... 39/0JOmpaG
(Page 75 of 348)
Vita’s 1882 marriage record to Savatore, state her parents to be Giovanni (Mazzurco) and “Martina” Caprone https://antenati.cultura.gov.it/ark:/12 ... 37/LoaGJDp
as does her possible 1884 Birth Record, which spells her surname Marzucco
Possible Birth No 309 – Vita “Marzucco”
Registered and born Regalbuto 8 October 1864
Giovanni Marzurco, 23 yo, agricoltore, living in Regalbuto, Strada sotto la piazza, presented a baby girl born from Martina “Capra”? his wife, 18 yo (c.1846)
Right side of page are the baptism details where her surname is spelt Marzucco. Baptized the same day in the town parish.

What info do you have suggesting that Vita’s mother went by both names, Gaetana and Martina?
What info do you have that suggests Vita had siblings Giuseppa, Salvatore, Biagio and Salvatore?
All for now.

Re: Looking for family of my Great-Grandmother Vita Mazzurco
Hello Angela,
I had some help on FamilySearch about a year ago and found birth certificates for my GGrandmother Vita. I have a copy of a birth certificate that has my Great-Great-Great Grandmother's name as Martina. (Is there a way I am able to attach a copy of these documents for you to look at?)

Yes, just click on attachments below, unless you have a link to the online record, then post that. If you have problems attaching, then give me the year and the Act Number and I'll and find it for you. I was just about to look for Martina's/Gaetana's birth record/s. I checked 1846 and 1847 indices but not there so was going to look at 1843.
Edit to Add: Is the record that you have for Vita not the same one that I have located here for you which has Martina's name on it?

Hello Angela,
Here are the documents that I have regarding my Great Grandmother Vita Mazzurco & Family. (Once I find her family, then I will look for my Grandfather's family
Two of the documents would not go through in this email, I will send then in another one.
Again, thank you so very much for helping me.

Re: Looking for family of my Great-Grandmother Vita Mazzurco
Great!!! Thanks for posting these. I’ll take a closer look at them later as I’m in the middle of something else at the moment. It explains why I couldn’t locate Biagio’s birth record. His birth was registered in Valguanera, and possibly the other syblings were as well.
It also explains why I was unable to locate Gaetana/Martina’s birth record. I suspected she was either born somewhere else or a foundling. Looking at her baptism record which you have posted, she was baptized in Regalbuto, 28 October 1845, given the name Martina Caprone and of unknown parents, so a foundling. So from this info I’ve been able to locate her Birth Record
No 19: https://antenati.cultura.gov.it/ark:/12 ... 01/0nWpqne
Page 12 of 19
(Still doesn’t explain the two names Gaetana and Martina but I’ll look at this later?)
I can hardly read the last Record you’ve posted. Can you post a clearer copy or give me the name of the town, and year. I can see it is Record No 29. Thanks.
Thanks again for posting these, Lucy.

Re: Looking for family of my Great-Grandmother Vita Mazzurco
Hello Angela,
Here is another copy, hopefully, it is a better one. My Great-Grandmother, Vita had a few more children, have their birth certificates too. Never knew she had so many children. I do remember my mother and cousins saying that she kept calling her Antoniono, my mother never said if it was her son or brother, only knew that he died. My elder cousin thinks he may have died in either WW1 or WW2, but he didn't know specifics about him.
I also found the birth certificates for my Grandfather, Cristoforo Rizzo and his siblings.

Re: Looking for family of my Great-Grandmother Vita Mazzurco
Thanks for reposting the birth record. The town was much clearer on it as was the year. I've located the online record which is much clearer. We really need to find Giovanni and Martina/Gaetana's wedding record to be sure that we do have the correct people. The marriage record would include the names of the parents and there might even be more information pertaining to Martina's earlier life among the allegati. I began looking for their marriage record the other day in the town of Regalbuto but unfortunately there are no indices in the years just before 1864 when Vita was born, so it would be a case of going page by page which will take a while.
Birth No 29: Giovanne Manzurco
Registered 24 June 1845, in Catenanuova
Appearing was Antonino Manzurco, 39 yo, villico (tenant farmer) living in this town who presented a baby boy born from Vita Carda, his legitimate wife, a 26 yo, living with him, and from himself the declarant, details as above. The baby was born on 23 June, current year at 4 am in the house that they lived. The infant was given the name Giovanne Manzurco. He was baptised the same number.
